About the Event
“Through a narration of the journey of the Indian economy since 1947, the book will answer questions that interest many Indians. Some of these questions include: What difference did the economic policies of the Nehru era make? How should we view the impact of Indira Gandhi on the economy? Did Rajiv Gandhi’s technical orientation help the country at all? How revolutionary, in terms of their impact, were the economic reforms of 1991? And, finally, to what extent has Narendra Modi delivered on the electoral promise “Achche din aane wale hain” (Good days are on the way), ostensibly to be brought about by his decisive political leadership?”
This is a panel discussion to commemorate the release of Professor Pulapre Balakrishnan’s book.
