About the Event

Before the event, participants will receive essential details about their designated company and the broader hospitality industry. This information will serve as the foundation for their understanding of the company's market standing. Upon arriving on campus, teams will receive a map and a set of clues. Their mission is to interact with strategically placed “customers” across the campus (played by appointed individuals). Teams will conduct surveys and gather feedback on the customer experience with the assigned company.

  • The feedback gathered during the interaction will focus on identifying the strengths and weaknesses of the assigned company. Teams will have 1.5 hours to navigate the campus, interact with customers, and compile the collected information into a comprehensive document for reference in the future crisis management rounds.
  • Motivate members will provide ratings (out of 5) based on the teams' interactions, quality of questions asked, and overall conduct. The average of these ratings will be added to each team's score, emphasizing the importance of effective communication and professionalism (especially in the hospitality industry)

Crisis Management Simulation:

Following the feedback collection, teams will be presented with an industry-wide crisis and a company-specific crisis. They will have 1.5 hours to develop a presentation deck addressing these crises, demonstrating their ability to think on their feet and come up with effective crisis management strategies.

Participants have a lunch break after this. Judges will evaluate the presentation decks. After lunch, one final crisis will be presented. This will include specific financial details the teams must incorporate into their strategies. Teams must ensure their solutions go beyond generic approaches and demonstrate a keen focus on financial viability.

Each team will then have 5-7 minutes to present their crisis management strategies, explaining the rationale behind their solutions.
