About the Event

The Ashoka University Economics Society promises to get you off the hook with our upcoming webinar on Rethinking Capitalism Post-Covid: The Power of Creative Destruction, a part of the ongoing series of webinars with the theme The Vision for a Post-Pandemic Economy.

Abstract:  Creative destruction involves the following contradiction: on the one hand innovation rents are needed to motivate innovation activity; on the other hand yesterday’s innovators are tempted to use their rents to prevent subsequent innovation . This talk will show how the paradigm of creative destruction:

  1. Sheds light on growth enigma such as the industrial take-off, secular stagnation, the middle income trap, and the relationship between inequality and innovation
  2. Provides new guidelines for rethinking the future of capitalism.
